Questions and Answers

Question:          I live out of state, do I have to see you in person or be in state for your services?
Answer:            You do not have to live in the state of Arizona to use my service. I am able to do everything   through the mail, and e-mail.

Question:         What if I want to search for more than one biological family member?
Answer:            Each search requires a separate "Request For Appointment Form" . Each separate search includes separate search fees as well.

Question:      What if the person I am searching for does not want to be contacted by me?
Answer:         If the person you are searching for denies contact and request that I do not call them again that needs to be noted in your file 
                       and no further contact can be made from me. 

Question:        How will I know how the search is progressing?
Answer:          You are always welcome to call me or e-mail me and I would be more than happy to let you know how the search is coming along.

Question:       You have contacted me and I would like to reunite what do I need to do? 

Answer:          You will need to contact me and then send me the appropriate paperwork.

                        1) I will need a copy of your photo i.d. (i.e. driver’s license, passport or military i.d.
                          whatever you choose) 
                        2) You need to fill out and have notarized the Consent to Info Form 
                        3) You will need to fill out and sign the Authorization to Share Data From
 

Question:        How will I know how much the case will cost?
Answer:          The prices vary from $250.00 - $500.00 if your adoption was finalized in Maricopa County.
                        Rarely does the cost ever exceed $500.00 (f your adoption was finalized in Maricopa County).

Question:       How long will the search take?
Answer:         The search can take anywhere from a few weeks up to a few years or longer depending on the many factors of a specific search.
                       So many things factor into each search it is hard to predict how long a search may take .
 
Question:      When you open the records, can I have my information?
Answer:        All the record information remains confidential (including the non-identifying information) and I am unable
                      to release to you any information I obtained from the court file or during the search.  

Question:    When is the payment due?
Answer:       The $250.00 payment is due prior to the search. If it exceeds the retainer fee of $250.00 I can discuss with you when payments 
                     can be made.
 
Question:      My Arizona adoption was private though an attorney, can you help me?
Answer:        The answer is yes. I am able to work on any adoption that was finalized in the state of Arizona.

Question:     I am the biological grandparent and may I have you search for my grandchild?
 Answer:      A grandparent can search if their child (the biological mother or father) is deceased .

Question:     My birth child I gave up for adoption is 18 and an adult can you search for her/him?
Answer:        No , the law allows for the search only to be for people that are 21 years and older.

Question:    Do you take all major credit cards?
Answer:       I am able to accept credit card payments through PayPal.

Question:    Do you find every person you look for ?
Answer:       No, not every person I search for can be found.

Question:    My Mom gave up my half  brother/sister can I look for a half sibling?
Answer:      You may look for a half sibling as long as they are 21 years of age or older.
 
Question:    How will I meet my relative once you find them?
Answer:      After both parties have signed and notarized the consent form you are welcome to call each other,
                    e-mail, use the postal mail or meet in person.The choice is yours.
  
Question:    Could I use your service to obtain non identifying information ?
Answer:       Yes.... I can request non identifying information  from the person you
                     are seeking and I can also request medical history.It is the choice of the person
                     who I contact to decide if they want to release that information or not.

Question:    I was adopted in Tucson, Arizona can you help me?
Answer:      Yes..I am able to go to Tucson to Pima County Court
                    and view your closed adoption file.

Question:    Can you view my Arizona adoption agency records?
Answer:      Yes I am able to view the agency records whether it be
                     LDS Family Services, Catholic Social Services,Arizona Children's
                     Association, Birth Hope or any other Arizona adoption agency.

Question:    My adoption was through Arizona DES can you help me
                     reunite?
Answer:       Yes I have access to DES closed adoption files as a Confidential Intermediary.

Question:     How long did your longest search take?
Answer:       My longest search took two years.

Question:     How long did your shortest search take?
Answer:        My shortest search took about three weeks.

Question:    Can you recommend any books for me to read during the search ?
Answer:       I recommend Adoption Reunion Survival Guide by Julie Jarrell Baily &
                     Lynn N, Giddens, M.A.

Question:      What if the person I am looking for is deceased?
Answer:         Then you are told the person was found to be deceased and no other information 
                      can be released.

Question:      Do you locate every person you look for?
Answer:        No... I am sorry not  every person I look for can be located.

Question:     Can you get a copy of my original sealed birth certificate?
Answer:        Yes... I am able to get a copy of you original sealed birth certificate
                      to help in search if I am in need of it.

Question:     What are some examplesof direct fees?
Answer:        Some agencies charge $50.00 to view a file, a  Maricopa record search is $26.00,
                      birth certificate order is $26.50, vital records charges $3.00 for the copy of a birth certificate
                      and postage is billed at US Postal rates.

Question:    What does the Arizona Confidential Intermediary Program allow you
                     to charge for your services?
Answer: 
                    1. Initial Search Set-UpFee $100.00(This is a one time fee the confidential intermediary 
                    may charge and collect for services that result in search services. These services include
                    initial review and consultation related to services.)
                    2. Investigation/Research Hourly Rate $100.00 (Maximum rate allowable.)
                    3. Bookkeeping/Travel Hourly Rate $50.00 (Maximum rate allowable.)
                    4. Direct Costs and Expenses Billable at Rates Incurred
